Best Camera For Realtors 2016

Best Camera For Realtors 2016 – Real estate photography technology is advancing at breakneck speed, especially in the development of new smartphones. But even the best camera phones on the market are still far from ideal for many situations where a professional encounter occurs, and although companies like Apple are working hard on the development of new technologies, this state of affairs will probably last for the foreseeable future. If you do a quick Google search for the behind-the-scenes setups on the “Shot on iPhone” ads, you’ll see what we mean. We’ve provided a quick preview below.

In today’s world, it is wise to invest in professional photography to serve as the foundation of your real estate marketing, rather than opting for the DIY approach with smartphone cameras. Professional photographers, realtors, and even customers with a discerning eye can easily distinguish a professional photo from a phone. To illustrate this difference, we give you an outline of key differences between professional HDR photos vs smartphone photos and visual examples. Read more below!

Professional photography equipment allows you to swap out different lenses to achieve the exact composition you need. Different lenses are required for portraits, landscape shots, macro shots, and yes – real estate properties. A true professional knows that it is best to use a lens that captures the subject in a way that entices potential buyers to visit the property. For smartphones, lens options are limited because they are clip-ons, and most images taken on smartphones are shot with the camera already built in. Tripods, settings and filters, for example – and anyone who has tried to take phone photos in poor light knows that the results are often disappointing.

Why It Pays To Use A Realtor®

Professional cameras capture images in larger file sizes. Larger file sizes are much more convenient for the editing process because there are more pixels per square inch. Trying to edit a smartphone photo in professional editing software often results in a disastrous final product that lacks clarity. Professional photographers have the tools and knowledge to shoot in RAW format, which means that an image is full of information about the colors and tones of the scene. This information makes it much easier for a media professional to finalize the photo without reducing its quality.

The majority of real estate business can be conducted digitally – and thank goodness for that! Meetings can be held through Zoom, contracts can be sent via email, and homes can be toured anywhere with the power of 3D virtual tours. That being said, there is something very real and tangible about print brochures and feature sheets. When potential buyers visit a property, it’s always a good idea to leave them with something they can hold onto that outlines the specifics of a home, which require professional photos that translate well to print. Unfortunately, phone images lack the resolution to show up well on print, unless you’re fine with pixelated, blurry images.

Have you ever taken a photo with your smartphone and thought the colors looked nothing like the one in front of you? Maybe it was way too orange or a bit too blue. Professional photographers understand that lighting sources can vary. Even “white” light sources can be warmer or cooler depending on the material. This is referred to as the “temperature” of the exposure. In the smartphone example below, you can see that the kitchen cabinets look yellowish and dingy, due to the surrounding warm light source in the kitchen, even though the cabinets are actually bright and white. Thanks to post-processing softwares and white balance tools, not to mention professional camera equipment, temperatures and real estate photos can be corrected and look more like the professional example below. No matter what light sources are available in a property, your professional real estate photographer should be able to show the much more accurate color of cabinets, floors and walls of the room.

“Crushed shadows” and “blown highlights” are both common lighting problems in real estate photography. They are two sides of the same coin. When you crush your shadows, you underexpose your image so much that there are large areas of pure black in your image. If your highlights are blown out, your image is so overexposed that there are large areas of white in the image. In both cases, you lose valuable details, such as street views from windows or property features in dark basements. Unfortunately, you can’t recover these details in post-production so the camera equipment itself is the key here. When shooting with a smartphone camera, there are limited exposure settings you can use to avoid exposure issues in the final image. In professional cameras, there are many more settings available, including histograms, highlight alerts, filters, metering, that a photographer can use to ensure the optimal amount of detail is captured.

As you can see in the many examples in this article, lines and composition make a big difference in presenting a property. Property pictures should show a property accurately, while making a space feel expansive. The vertical lines in a room should be just that – vertical. When scanning a photograph, our eyes move from left to right, rather than up and down, so vertical lines work to lead a viewer’s eye upwards, making a room appear taller. When we think of growth, we think of an upward direction. Using vertical lines to lead the eye upwards emphasizes growth and expansiveness. Similarly, a real estate photo should also feel horizontally expansive. Use wide-angle lenses to take in an extra wall or even more features like doors (as in the example above) to see a room in its entirety. Don’t be intimidated though, about the accuracy of a room, this is much closer to what your eyes would see when you are in the room.

The 5 Best Outdoor Security Cameras Of 2023

Choosing an appropriate camera for real estate photography is the most important part of the deal. Unlike other genres, real estate photography does not have high requirements, but you should still be ready to spend most of your money on a camera. You need a model with a large full-frame sensor and a 1:1 ratio.

Models with smaller aspect ratios may not provide enough image space when shooting with a wide-angle lens. An automatic exposure bracketing feature is also a must for this genre of photography. In addition, manual adjustments of aperture, shutter speed and ISO should be available. To take photos with minimal noise and low light, you need a camera with a powerful sensor.

The Canon EOS 6D Mark II and the Nikon D850 are great options for commercial real estate photography. They help you achieve incredible results. However, if you are a beginner photographer on a budget, I advise you to take a closer look at the Canon EOS Rebel T6s.
