One of the reasons I have questioned the choice of stay-at-home moms is because my children are in a difficult age. At any given moment at least one of them is angry, complaining or upset about something. I quickly feel unappreciated on a daily basis.

Last week something special happened. My son kindly asked me to take him to swimming lessons by himself. He is a Dada’s boy and has never asked me for 1-on-1 time if Dada is there. It really melted my heart because he wanted some time with me when his Dad was free to go. He had to go down for the first time in that swimming lesson. After his lesson he told me that maybe they knew his Mom was watching and that’s why he went to make the picture. It was so sweet!
In fact he spent most of the next day not listening to me and trying to get his way instead of asking politely, so my heart is clear… life That’s young, ha! 🙂
My daughter is learning to walk, talk, and find her personality. He’s starting to get a little more freedom and independence and really wants more than what he’s provided. This has caused a lot of anger lately. My sweet angel baby was growing into a toddler, and I wasn’t ready.
Recently I started taking deep breaths in my son when he is upset and it’s amazing! He quickly calmed down and was able to move on. I tried it with my daughter, but she was too young to understand how to breathe with me, so it didn’t work for her. But, it works for me too. Whenever I’m about to start yelling at the kids, I try to take a few deep breaths first to calm down and assess the situation.

All the excitement of the kids recently combined with me recently signing all my kids up for preschool (term) in the fall has me dreaming about going back to work as an engineer when it starts their schools.
