Grants For Small Business In California – Sacramento – The California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) announced grant awards for the California Small Business Technical Assistance Program (SB TAEP). The training and mentoring provided by the program has supported more than 3,000 small business start-ups and helped create more than 19,000 jobs.

SB TAEP allocates funding to eligible centers through a competitive process. Small business technical assistance centers are designated by state and private funding partners to operate small business technical assistance programs throughout the state. These centers provide one-on-one, confidential mentoring and training to help small businesses and entrepreneurs start, expand, facilitate investment and create jobs in California. SB TAEP provides federal grant funding to expand counseling and training services provided by existing and new centers, as well as satellite offices.

The new assistance program provides grants–not loans–from $5,000 to $25,000 to eligible small businesses and nonprofits based on the annual income reported on their most recent tax return.
Applications for the first round of awards will open on December 30, 2020, at 8am PST and the deadline has been extended to 11:59pm on January 13, 2021. Approval notifications will begin on January 15, 2021.
Small business owners with multiple business entities are allowed to apply only once, using their highest-grossing eligible entity.
The LA SBDC is one of the program’s official partners who can help small business owners apply for funding.
