You don’t have to set in stone the types of content you put on each channel, but it can be helpful to identify different buckets as you set a cadence for yourself.

One way to do this is by assigning roles to the different social media platforms you use. Maybe on TikTok you share recipe reels, Instagram for photos of finished meals and Twitter Marketing for real-time business updates. That’s what clothing store TrashQueen does: its creative content lives on channels like Instagram and TikTok, while its business-oriented news stays on Twitter.

After years of scrolling through expertly curated posts on Instagram, TikTok quenched the thirst for validation from followers and creators alike.

“We’re currently in a very personality-driven social media age where people like to follow creators, they like TikTok and they like to see people’s faces,” Rachel says.

“On Instagram I always feel like I have to look good and wear makeup, but on TikTok I can literally look like this, no makeup, my hair tied, and people don’t judge you because that’s how it is. An authentic platform,” says Ramona.
