For nature, romance, and total luxury, I suggest going to La Malbaie in Quebec. This small town is located right next to Camping Des Chutes Fraiser and the peaceful Jardins de Quatre-Vents. They have boutiques, boulangeries, chalets, golf clubs, and beautiful views right on the water. Plus, this road trip is only 4 hours!
Quebec City: Most European City In North America?
If you love whale watching, then take the short 5 hour drive to Tadoussac! Not only can you see some beautiful marine life, but you can also explore the nature around it. You can escape the city and relax for the A1 road trip with your BFFs.
This adorable little town is only a five hour drive away from Montreal and trust me, it’s 514% worth it! You can escape the city and enjoy a great time on the water with some of your friends. It was pure silence!
For a simple and stunning 10 hour road trip to take with your BFF, I highly recommend checking out l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé. Easy to get to and super cheap! These rocks are a trademark of Quebec and the area around them contains great activities for you and your BFF to have a great weekend getaway.
For a simple 3 hour road trip, I suggest checking out Baie-Saint-Paul! It’s a great place to go with your BFF or sister because you can shop all the cute boutiques that aren’t in Montreal or really anywhere else. It is actually most famous for being the birthplace of Cirque du Soleil!
Road Trip From Montreal To Quebec City
This hour road trip is 514% worth it for the sweet weekend! You can shop in their lovely boutiques and enjoy nature around the city area. The Laurentian mountains are really beautiful and I am sure you will enjoy them.
Sainte-Adèle is known for its cute boutiques and especially for its nature spas such as Auberge et Spa Beaux Rêves! You can shop till you drop and discover their hidden waterfall!
Stanstead has to be my favorite small town on this list! Not only is it only an hour and a half away from Montreal, but it’s also home to Bleu Lavande! You can explore the gorgeous lavender fields or take your own nature walk.
Chicoutimi literally looks like something out of a fairytale! There is a variety of natural beauty and beautiful castles/churches. They have nature walks, sightseeing tours, hiking paths, and much more like museums! You will have a wonderful relaxing time and it is only five hours away.
The Best Cities To Live In Quebec
Havre-Aubert is a must-do road trip if you really like long drives considering it is 20 hours away from Montreal. Now that may seem VERY far, but it is SO worth it! This Quebec island is surrounded by beauty and even an aquarium, art exhibitions, and much more.
If you’re willing to drive just 4 hours away from Montreal and just love thrilling adventures, I definitely recommend checking out Kamouraska. It literally has it all! From cute boutiques to being surrounded by nature you are sure to have a fab time. You can visit their beautiful piers, historical sights, try kayaking adventures, and see the museums! My favorite aspect of Kamouraska is their ziplining between the cliffs.
You should definitely go to the small town of Magog with your family or friends! They are most popular at Lake Memphremagog where you can see the Québécois Nessie and go to cute boutiques while enjoying fun activities like kayaking or nature walks. Another plus is that it’s only 1 hour away! The province of Quebec is gorgeous! With centuries of history, stunning scenery and beautiful coastlines, it’s one of the best places in Canada to visit. Let’s start by setting some context – Quebec, as a province, is huge! You can drive more than 1000 kilometers from Quebec City and still not reach halfway to the northern coast of the province.
That said, you don’t have to travel for days to reach these gorgeous Quebec gems. Even dotted a few hours from the main cities are a heap of the best places in Quebec that are too good to miss.
So, with a little planning and an explorer’s spirit, you can easily find a slice of this stunning province within easy reach.

Quebec Travel Guide
With an old-school charm, the historic center of Quebec (around Old Quebec) should be your first stop.
Once here, be sure to explore Petit Champlain for its charming cobbled streets and stone townhouses dating back centuries. You’ll find a wealth of small boutiques, independent cafes and a heap of delicious restaurants too.
For a delicious lunch, head to Le Lapin Sauté for their Cassoulet with fresh scallops. Very good!
After filling up, be sure to explore further within the historic city walls. Be sure to stop at the Citadel (the largest British-built fortress in North America), visit the Plains of Abraham, and Notre Dame Basilica (one of the oldest Cathedrals in North America).
Visiting The Beautiful City Of Quebec, Canada
For a luxurious stay, check out the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. It’s a very nice property and also has a heap of delicious foodie joints inside. We love it.
Oh yes, and across the Beauport neighborhood, Montmorency Falls to see walk across the suspension bridge and see the power of this mighty waterfall!
If you like to travel from the city itself, head to Île d’Orléans which is less than 30 minutes away from Old Quebec by car. This gorgeous island has heaps of history and lots of little apple picking farms, pretty villages and some great stops to find something to eat.
It’s totally special and really quite remote (even though it’s only about an hour from Montreal). Here, you can spend some time exploring the gorgeous lakes and hiking areas (around the Sentier Mont Larose) that are absolutely stunning.

Honestly, it’s hard to believe you’re so close to Montreal because you feel like a million miles away!
We headed to Amishk Aboriginal Adventures where we absolutely fell in love with this place. Here, we crossed the lake, entered our own little camp (with a roaring fire) and headed into the wilderness with one of the guides who introduced us to the local beaver that frequented the lake.
It was a special experience and one of the best places in Quebec where we saw beavers!
In my opinion, one of the best parts of Montreal is the historic, old center that you have to visit.
Quebec City Guide: Planning Your Trip
If you like your history, be sure to visit the iconic Notre Dame Basilica that has been around for centuries in old Montreal. Just make sure you go inside, the interior is too beautiful to miss.
For a little stroll (and a bite to eat) stroll through the Vieux-Port de Montréal (Old Montreal Port area). It really is one of the best places in Quebec to explore, especially when enjoying Montreal.
Here, you’ll find heaps of cafes and it’s gorgeous for a stroll on a sunny day. Oh, and be sure to get some smoked meat poutine from the vendors here… so good and so good to warm up on a winter’s day.
To keep your energy up, head to Tommy’s for their delicious coffee blends and freshly baked bagels. Afterwards, you can easily take in the view from Mount Royal. It is beautiful when the sun is low in the sky.

If the weather takes a turn for the worst (and you’re an art fiend), head to The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Here, they host an array of permanent and temporary exhibitions in what is said to be the largest art museum in all of Canada.
One of the best places in Quebec to base yourself while you explore the wider region around the Gaspé Peninsula.
