Stay At Home Moms Blogs – Finding ways to simplify my stay-at-home life has helped me a lot. When I became a stay-at-home mom, I had no idea what to expect. I also didn’t know how to organize my day with a 3 year old. While my husband came home every day, I was overwhelmed. So after a few months of being a stay at home mom, I realized I needed to make some changes. I was a former teacher, so I knew I had to find simple ways to structure my day. So here are 10 ways to simplify your life as a stay-at-home mom.

The start of your day will usually determine how the rest of your day goes. When I became a stay-at-home mom, I created a morning routine that worked for me. I strongly recommend getting up before your kids to allow yourself to mentally prepare for the day. Peace and quiet are the best during my morning routine. I also noticed that I was happier in the morning when I created a morning routine. Check out my blog post 10 Morning Habits!

My cluttered routine has been one of the best things I’ve done to simplify my life. It will take time for your house to completely declutter, especially if you’ve had random items in your house for years and years. So I suggest creating a monthly cleaning routine. Once a month, take a garbage bag and fill it with everything you no longer use or no longer serve a purpose in your home. Then donate everything to your local Goodwill or shelter. Check out Home Editing for ways to declutter your home and make it more organized.

This may seem like a small simple task, but it will definitely help automate your accounts. You may need to create a budget before automating your accounts. I definitely felt more relaxed knowing that the family bills would automatically come out of the account and I didn’t have to worry about calling in bills or sending checks in the mail. As a stay-at-home mom, we already have enough on our plate, so it’s important to find simple tasks to automate. Another tip is to go through your monthly bills and expenses and find ways you can cut costs.

I love having a cleaning routine. When my house is clean, it just puts me in a better mood. I noticed that once I started decluttering and simplifying my home, my cleaning routine became much easier. Both of my kids are home with me during the day, so of course my house can be a little messy. However, I like to do an afternoon cleanse and an evening cleanse. I also suggest, if you have it in your budget, that you can hire someone to come to your home to help with cleaning and/or organizing. Don’t be afraid to budget for some help in your home.

To be honest, cooking is not my favorite. So I figured out a way to make meal planning work for me. First, I got the Sistema Nest it Containers so it was easy for me to store my meals. I also created a google doc with a list of my to-go meals. Using my crock pot and fan also made cooking meals much easier and faster for me. Finally, sometimes we budget for different food services like Hello Fresh. It’s a great way to try new foods, and you can also save recipes for future reference.

As a stay-at-home mom, it’s very important to make time during the day to relax. It can be a quick 15 minutes while your little ones nap. Or maybe it’s waking up an hour earlier than your kids so they can have some peace and quiet. You will feel so much better if you create that time every day. You may also need to check with your spouse or family to find out when you can give me time.

Pros And Cons Of Stay At Home Mom Vs Working Moms

Praying every day is very important to me. I feel at peace when I pray about my day and it guides me. You can create a prayer routine where you pray morning, noon and night.

As a stay at home mom, we have a lot on our plate. So having a calendar on the wall is a good visual aid to help. I like to write down the kids’ activities, appointments, and any other events so I don’t forget. Here are some of my favorite visual wall calendars HERE

Staying at home and keeping your kids at home can be overwhelming at times. That’s why I always prepare independent activities for my children during the day. I also plan different outings that will allow my kids to play and get all their energy out. The Children’s Museum and Garden are some of our favorite places. I also schedule playtime once a week.

This is as important as staying at home. It’s okay to say no to events, activities, and anything else that might make you feel overwhelmed. There was a time when I said yes too much and I started to feel like my days were overdone and I was overwhelmed. Sometimes I say no to weekend invites because the weekend is usually when I can relax. Make sure you are a priority and do what makes you happy.

Be sure to check out my blog post on How to Make Your Home Smell Natural! Probably my #1 requested thing to write about is our routine. It took me a while to find a “normal” day without play dates or random extras and remember to record what we do throughout the day. But, finally, I was successful. So here it is. A day in the life of a stay at home mom. Curly.

So to give some context, I’m a stay at home mom of three: Scarlett (4.5), Levi (3) and Eloise (1.5). I also blog, but I would hardly consider it a job. It is a very time-consuming hobby. Every day is different, chaotic, crazy and wonderful. Our current routine has Scarlett at school 3 mornings a week and I’ve been logging our day on a Monday, a school day. Now keep in mind that not every day is this productive and I also work on my “down” time… so without further ado… here we go!

5:20 The child had an accident. Wear clean sheets, put dirty ones in the washing machine. Put the baby back to sleep.

6:00-6:20 Try to find the new spin bike with no luck (come to find out it’s not connected well enough).

7:00 Eloise is awake. Get him and everyone heads downstairs to breakfast and get ready for the day.

While the kids eat and get dressed, I load/unload the dishwasher, shake for Marcus, turn the laundry and throw in a new load, wipe the tables, vacuum the floors, water the Christmas tree, do Scarlett’s hair. Scarlett feeds/waters the cat.

8:00-8:10 The kids are all ready, they’re watching a show while I’m upstairs putting on makeup. Read the first 5 devotions.

3:00 Work time while Scarlett watches a show. Load/unload dishwasher, distribute clean laundry, get guest room linens and wash.

3:50 Shake me up and take the kids outside to play in the FREEZING cold. I read while the kids play.

4:30 Eloise is awake. Get everyone in and get everyone in the bath. Hair blowout, dance party and more laundry to be distributed/put away. Put the laundry in the dryer.

6:25 Dad takes the kids out for ice cream while I’m home. Clean linens on guest bed, load/unload dishwasher (cooking day! Lots of dishes), clean kitchen.

7:40-8:45 Husband time. Wash your face, brush your teeth, read a book for a while. Sleep until 9 (Definitely earlier than usual. We’re both recovering after Marcus traveled all last week).

This was actually a good exercise for me in being more intentional with my phone time. I will admit that I tend to mindlessly scroll and I know it takes more time than I realize… I am working on it. But, as I write it, I understand
