I’m mostly in the latter category,  though I have to admit that the city makes a tremendous impression (regardless of how you feel about it) and is a great base for visiting some of the most beautiful US national parks in the area. Luxury hotels may not be the first idea that comes to mind in Las Vegas, as the place built a reputation for impressing its visitors with mammoth hotels that have palatial, almost galactic dimensions. Seven of the 10 largest hotels in the world are located in Las Vegas. However, in the past decade, a string of ultra-luxurious, boutique-style hotels have opened their doors on the Strip and seem to cater exclusively to discerning guests.
