If you’re having trouble finding inspiration, Rachel recommends logging off to look at accounts from other industries or do creative research. “I get a lot of inspiration from looking at old ads or old campaigns or going on hikes and getting out into the world and getting off social media,” she says.

“Sharing is more important than ever on social media,” he says. “Whether it’s leaning toward humor or useful reels that are recipes or anything that adds value that makes someone say, ‘I’m going to add this to my story, I’m going to send this to a friend.’ Those types of instructions are very important right now from an algorithmic perspective.
“We’re currently in a very personality-driven social media age where people like to follow creators, they like TikTok and they like to see people’s faces,” Rachel says.
“On Instagram I always feel like I have to look good and wear makeup, but on TikTok I can literally look like this, no makeup, my hair tied, and people don’t judge you because that’s how it is. An authentic platform,” says Ramona.
Andre’s social media following on TikTok grew rapidly as he shared a wealth of educational content to launch other brands, kept up with current trends and wasn’t afraid to share his struggles along the way.

“I told my story of who I am, where I’m from, and then also put the brand story. Those three things combined to make this huge TikTok page that you see now,” he says.
Megan Mensink, founder of curated jewelry brand Folklore, consistently shows off her authentic self on Instagram Stories. “I’m sharing behind the scenes. I’m sharing what it’s like to be an entrepreneur. I’m sharing what’s coming up. I’ve always been very transparent with my community and it’s always been a safe place so people can feel like they’re not alone,” says Megan.
The best part about this trend is that you don’t need a social media team or fancy equipment to access it. You have to show up and be yourself. “Focus on your brand and your storytelling and your personality. Find yourself on forums just by participating,” says Rachel.
